Meals and Nourishment
Food at MahaDevi is prepared to support the body, mind, and nervous system throughout the retreat process. Our approach to meals is simple, intentional, and grounded. We focus on nourishment that provides energy, supports rest, and complements ceremonial work without heaviness or excess.
Meals are not about restriction or indulgence. They are about balance, presence, and care.
Our Approach to Food
All meals are freshly prepared and made with intention.
We prioritize food that is:
- Easy to digest
- Supportive of energy levels
- Prepared with minimal processing
- Aligned with retreat preparation and integration
Meal Options
- Vegetarian meals
- Pescatarian options with fresh, locally caught fish
- Light protein options including chicken
- Abundant fresh vegetables and plant-based dishes
Fish is sourced locally when available, often freshly caught from nearby rivers.
Fresh fruit is served with every meal, including fruit bowls and seasonal selections from the region.
Salt, Oil, and Dietary Preferences
Meals are generally prepared with low salt and minimal oil.
For participants who prefer a more strict dietary approach, we can accommodate meals prepared
without salt and without oil.
Dietary preferences and needs are discussed in advance so we can support each guest appropriately.
Fresh Juices and Beverages
We serve fresh juices made from locally sourced fruits. Natural juices are offered regularly to support hydration and energy.
High-quality filtered drinking water is available at all times for every guest.
Occasionally, and depending on the retreat, we also offer herbal teas and traditional plant infusions such as blue lotus tea and other calming herbal preparations. These are offered mindfully and are not mandatory.
Fasting and Ceremony Nights
Fasting is an option for those who feel called to it, but it is never required.
Some participants choose to eat lightly or fast before ceremony nights. Others prefer a small, gentle meal such as fruit or fresh juice before the evening ceremony.
Guidance is provided so each participant can make an informed and supportive choice for their body.
Cafeteria Access and Additional Food
Our cafeteria area remains open throughout the day.
Participants who feel they need additional nourishment outside of scheduled meal times may order extra food or beverages.
This flexibility helps ensure that each person can meet their individual energy and comfort needs during the retreat.
