You may also encounter the French colonial spelling yajé. All refer to the same medicine. The Siona and Kamsá peoples also use yajé within their own traditions. Like ayahuasca, which appears as iowaska, ayawaska, ayahuascha, and ajalaska in different languages and phonetic systems, the spelling varies but the medicine does not.
